Event Details

Kanazawa University is committed to promoting gender equality and contributing to the local community and society, aiming to be "a university that is loved by the local community and shines globally." In FY 2021, we were selected for the "Initiative for Realization of Diversity Research Environment (Advanced Type)," a project funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Grant-in-Aid for Human Resource Development in Science and Technology, and is working to improve the environment and raise awareness toward the realization of a more comprehensive diversity education and research environment.

As part of our efforts, Institute for Promotion of Diversity and Inclusion will hold a gender symposium with world-renowned conductor Tomomi Nishimoto, Visiting Professor of the Osaka College of Music as follows.

In this symposium, Nishimoto will give a lecture titled "Transcending Different Cultural Backgrounds and Disciplines Through Sound and Music Toward a Harmonious and Enriched World" and engage in a dialogue with the participants. During the lecture, a short performance will be presented by two violinists, one violist, one cellist, and one vocalist, along with demonstrations related to breathing, anticipation, and harmony.

Through this symposium, we hope to have an opportunity to think together about the role of music in building a diverse society that recognizes and respects differences in ethnicity, gender, culture, etc., and about the possibility of opening up the future by challenging fields where women have yet to make inroads.

We look forward to your participation.
